This Vitamin Can Reverse Kidney Disease in Diabetics – Study Reveals

Has your doctor mentioned that your kidney function is declining?

Has he hinted that you may need dialysis down the line?

The prospect of losing kidney function and going on dialysis is terrifying to me.

Years ago, I helplessly witnessed a friend slip from low kidney function into a state of needing dialysis.

Living at death’s door step, dependent on the healthcare system and a machine to filter his blood, was unsettling. His health deteriorated as well.

I also felt helpless, because as a young naturopathic doctor I expected to know what to do, but I didn’t have sufficient knowledge and experience at the time. Unfortunately, even currently, many doctors, still don’t have the tools to reverse chronic kidney disease or chronic kidney failure.

Diabetic Kidney Failure and Dialysis Can Be Avoided

Ffortunately, since then I have acquired deeper knowledge and tools that helped me help clients with diabetes and heart disease prevent and even reverse declining kidney function, even when it declined below 30% and even when they had both type 1 and type 2 diabetes for many years.

A Common Vitamin that Can Help

I’d like to share one of these tools here, because it is a safe and simple nutrient that can be attained over-the-counter. Having said that, don’t misinterpret this information as medical advice or a treatment.

The nutrient is vitamin B1, also known as thiamin, and according to the study linked here, when taken at 100 mg three times daily, it can improve and change the trajectory of early-stage kidney disease.

Even though the study results are positive and anyone could purchase and take thiamin supplements, I ask you that you don’t misinterpret this as medical advice, because I don’t know how long this intervention alone will work, and even whether it will work for you.

Oher things to Consider in Order to Reverse Kidney Disease

When I help my clients improve their kidney function, I take a comprehensive approach. I consider all the things that contribute to kidney disease into account and deal with them accordingly.

Things that can contribute to kidney disease include

  • Poorly controlled blood sugar over many years
  • Certain types of food (for example, those that are made with and contain refined cooking oils)
  • Too much iron and other metals in the body
  • Different diseases (cardiovascular disease and high blood pressure, certain autoimmune diseases, hormonal imbalances)
  • Long term use of certain medications (for cholesterol, certain meds for blood pressure, non steroidal anti-inflammatories like ibuprofen and antiacid medications).
